| Two versions of the Unicode/XML Leningrad Codex (UXLC) are compared word by word. Transcription notes are also compared.Verses are made up of a sequence of words. Here the term "word" refers to the text contents of the w (normal), q (qere), or k (ketiv) text tags. Words contain only Unicode Hebrew text with consonants, vowels, accents, morphological division marks (/), blanks, Zero Width Joiners (ZWJ) and Combining Grapheme Joiners (CGJ). For the UXLC the dagesh, shin and sin dot are considered to be vowels; the maqaf, paseq, sof pasuq, geresh, and gerashayim are considered to be accents.Any other character is invalid in word text. Both verses and words may contain transcription notes.Words are specified by a number after a decimal point indicating their position in the verse i.e. Lev 16:21.5 is the fifth orthographic word in Leviticus 16:21, the ketiv word 'ידו'.Very infrequently, changes in the text produce different numbers of words in a given chapter and verse. In this case, the entire verse is displayed and a simple analysis is given. *** No counting of changes in consonants, vowels, accents, MDs, and notes takes place in these verses! ***Caution: CGJs and ZWJs are considered as accents and are not visible on display. Thus a change in accents maybe due to the insertion of a CGJ or a ZWJ. |
